Tornado clean up continues in the Triad region

LEXINGTON, N.C. - Some North Carolina residents are spending their holiday weekend cleaning up after this month's round of deadly tornadoes.

People in Randolph County and Davidson County are spending the weekend picking up debris and signing up for federal aid. Both counties were heavily damaged by the tornado that devastated the areas on Nov. 16.

In order to help residents, the N.C. Emergency Management established a disaster recovery center.

"We realize that winter months and we realize that families are homeless at this point and so we really want to make sure that we are turning around the dollars as quick as possible," said Donna Latimer with emergency management.

The DRC will operate on the following schedule:

Thursday, Nov. 24 - CLOSED
Friday, Nov 25 - Open 9 a.m. -6
Saturday, Nov. 26 - Open 9 a.m.- 6
Sunday, Nov. 27 - CLOSED
Monday-Thursday, Nov. 28 ? Dec. 1 - Open 9 a.m.-6
